Pregnancy Conditions

Pregnancy brings dramatic physical change, and most discomforts are a normal part of the journey. Others need careful monitoring. Throughout your prenatal care, we screen early and stay attentive so concerns are addressed before they become problems.

  • Morning Sickness: Relief strategies and monitoring for nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, including when symptoms may signal hyperemesis gravidarum.
  • Gestational Diabetes: Screening, nutrition coaching, and glucose monitoring to keep you and your baby healthy.
  • High Blood Pressure in Pregnancy: Careful monitoring for gestational hypertension and preeclampsia, with immediate OB/GYN collaboration when needed.

Postpartum & Feeding Conditions

The fourth trimester deserves as much attention as pregnancy itself. Through postpartum care and lactation support, we help you heal physically and emotionally.

  • Postpartum Depression & Anxiety: Routine screening, compassionate support, and coordination with perinatal mental health specialists.
  • Breastfeeding Challenges: Help with latch problems, nipple pain, low supply, engorgement, clogged ducts, and mastitis.
  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: Evaluation and guidance for leaking, pelvic pressure, and core weakness after childbirth, with pelvic floor physical therapy referrals.

Gynecologic & Hormonal Conditions

Our well-woman gynecology services support your health long after your childbearing years, and our preconception counseling helps address concerns that can affect fertility.

  • Irregular Periods: Evaluation of missed, heavy, or unpredictable cycles and the hormonal causes behind them.
  • PCOS: Diagnosis support, lifestyle and nutrition guidance, and fertility planning for polycystic ovary syndrome.
  • Perimenopause & Menopause: Relief for hot flashes, sleep changes, mood shifts, and vaginal dryness, plus long-term wellness planning.
  • Vaginal & Urinary Infections: Prompt diagnosis and treatment for yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and urinary tract infections.

Conditions FAQs

Can a midwife treat pregnancy complications?

Midwives monitor and manage many common pregnancy concerns, such as morning sickness and diet-controlled gestational diabetes. When a condition requires physician management, our in-practice OB/GYNs become involved right away.

Will I have to leave Cove if I develop a complication?

Often, no. Because Board-Certified OB/GYNs are part of our practice, many patients continue care at Cove with their midwife and physician working together. If specialized care such as maternal-fetal medicine is needed, we coordinate the referral.

Do you treat conditions for women who are not pregnant?

Yes. Through well-woman gynecology, we care for irregular periods, PCOS, infections, and perimenopause and menopause symptoms.

Do you screen for postpartum depression?

Yes. Emotional health screening is part of every pregnancy and postpartum journey at Cove, and we coordinate with perinatal mental health specialists when you need additional support.

Can you help with breastfeeding pain or low milk supply?

Yes. Our lactation support includes latch assessment, weighted feeds, and personalized plans for pain, supply, and mastitis concerns.

Can PCOS or irregular cycles affect my ability to get pregnant?

They can. Our preconception counseling evaluates your cycles and hormones and helps you build a plan before trying to conceive.
