Does Your Employer-Funded Plan Cover Cove Midwifery and Women's Health?
Many of our patients are employees, or spouses of employees, at large South Bay and Los Angeles organizations. These companies often “self-insure,” meaning they fund their own health plans rather than purchasing a standard policy from an insurance carrier.
The “Administered By” Distinction
If your insurance card says Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, or UnitedHealthcare but is provided through a large corporation, it is likely administered by the carrier but funded by your employer. These plans are often highly flexible and frequently cover our midwifery-led care and concierge services in full, from prenatal care and labor and delivery through postpartum care and lactation support.

What If I Have a Standard Fully-Insured PPO?
If your plan is funded directly by the insurance carrier, it may not cover our concierge model in full. You can still receive care at Cove Midwifery and Women's Health through out-of-network benefits with a superbill for potential reimbursement, our flat $5,000 Cove Concierge Membership, or clear, predictable self-pay global billing packages.

Insurance FAQs for Expectant Parents
When should I submit my insurance information?
We recommend submitting your information as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test so your benefits are mapped out before your initial confirmation of pregnancy visit.
Does my insurance cover the doctors as well as the midwives?
Our model includes three Board-Certified OB/GYNs. Because we are a collaborative practice, we verify coverage for the entire clinical team to support seamless care through labor and delivery.
What is a self-funded employer plan?
It is a health plan paid for by your employer and administered by a carrier such as Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, or UnitedHealthcare. These plans often cover our services in full.
What if my plan is a standard PPO?
You can use out-of-network benefits with a superbill, choose the flat concierge membership, or select a transparent self-pay package.
Can I qualify for a $0 membership fee?
Patients with qualifying self-funded employer plans may have the Cove Concierge Membership fee waived.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Concierge fees are often HSA and FSA eligible. Please confirm with your plan administrator.
